Why are reporting deadlines important?
Under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (HESA), all providers in receipt of Commonwealth grants are required to provide the department with statistical and other information relating to the provision of higher education and VET FEE‑HELP.
Detailed information on all reporting requirements for the Higher Education and VET FEE‑HELP data collections is available on HEIMSHELP.
Failure to provide data on time and as required may affect:
- your organisation's funding;
- compliance with the reporting of student HELP debts to the Australian Taxation Office;
- the publication of statistical data; and
- continued approval as a provider in receipt of Commonwealth grants.
What do I do if I need an extension to the reporting date?
If you are unable to meet a reporting deadline your Vice Chancellor or CEO will need to request an extension to the due date, in writing, from the Minister's delegate. The request would need to include advice on the submission for which an extension is required, the circumstances around your inability to submit and the proposed date of submission.
Please contact the HEIMS Data Collections team for the contact details for the Minister's delegate.
Please note that extensions should be requested well in advance of the reporting deadline.
