Calculating loan fees

Higher Education – Unit Enrolments

  • For Unit of Study Census Dates (E489) before 1 January 2011 where the student is undertaking the unit of study as part of an undergraduate course of study, the Loan Fee (E529) must be 20 per cent of the HELP Loan Amount (E558).
  • For Unit of Study Census Dates (E489) on or after 1 January 2011, where the student is undertaking the unit of study at a non-Table B provider as part of an undergraduate course of study, the Loan Fee (E529) must be 25 per cent of the HELP Loan Amount (E558).
  • For Unit of Study Census Dates (E489) on or after 1 January 2011 and before 1 January 2019, where the student is undertaking the unit of study at a Table B provider as part of an undergraduate course of study, the Loan Fee (E529) must be 25 per cent of the HELP Loan Amount (E558).
  • For all other units of study, the Loan Fee (E529) must be 0.

Higher Education – OS-HELP Loans

  • For HELP Debt Incurral Dates (E527) before 1 January 2010, the Loan Fee (E529) must be 20 per cent of the OS-HELP Payment Amount (E528).
  • For all other HELP Debt Incurral Dates (E527), the Loan Fee (E529) must be 0.

VET – Unit Enrolments

  • For units of study that are not subsidised by a State government, the Loan Fee (E529) must be 20 per cent of the HELP Loan Amount (E558).
  • For units of study that are subsidised by a State government, the Loan Fee (E529) must be 0.
