Classification
Description (detailed)
A code which identifies whether a student had commenced and/or completed the final year of secondary education at a high school, technical high school, secondary school or secondary college; and the year in which the student completed the final year of secondary education.

A commencing domestic student who for the final year of secondary education at a high school, technical high school, secondary school or secondary college:

Coding notes
YYYY is replaced by the last year in which the student completed the final year of secondary education at school. If no information is available for year, code as "29999".
If data are reported for overseas students, DESTPAC will identify such students using Element 358 (Citizen/resident indicator) and will ignore the data during edit validations and the data for them will be re‑coded as "00000" when data are loaded to DEST's database.
*If data other than "00100" are reported for non‑commencing domestic students, DESTPAC will ignore the data during edit validations.
