Coding notes
Academic years refer to periods of time which may or may not start or finish at the beginning or end of academic years or semesters.
A course leading to a combined or multiple awards should be split into its award components and treated as two or more courses for the purposes of determining the standard course completion time. The standard course completion time would ten be the standard time in which an institution expects a student to complete each component course of the combined course. However, where a student is undertaking a course for which another course was a pre‑requisite, then the length of the first course should not be included as part of the standard course completion time.
Where a course is offered as a part‑time course for some stages of the course and full‑time for other stages, then it is not to be coded as 01. The specific code assigned will reflect a theoretical standard time, calculated as if all stages were to be offered on a part‑time basis.
